Isaarmastus on üks suurimatest lapse arengut mõjutavatest teguritest

Isaarmastus panustab lapse arengusse sama palju – ja vahel isegi rohkem – kui emaarmastus. See on üks paljudest avastustest, mis tehti uue ulatusliku analüüsi abil, uurides vanemliku halvakspanu ja heakskiidu jõudu meie isiksuse kujundamisel lapsepõlve ja täiskasvanuea vahel.

Üks Arizona ülikooli teadlaste varasem uurimus näitas ilmekalt, kui tähtis on tegelikult isa roll eeskujuna oma lastele. Uurimuse tulemuste järgi on kehvema isaliku kasvatusega tüdrukutel suurem oht varajases teismeeas seksuaalselt aktiivseks muutuda.

"Me pole pool sajandit kestnud rahvusvahelise teadustöö jooksul leidnud ühtegi teist kogemuste valdkonda, millel oleks niivõrd tugev ja järjekindel mõju isiksusele ning selle väljakujunemisele, kui seda on halvakspanu kogemus, eriti lapsepõlves vanematelt kogetu," ütleb Connecticuti ülikooli õppejõud Ronald Rohner, kes on teadusajakirjas Personality and Social Psychology Review avaldatud uurimuse kaasautor.

"Lapsed ja täiskasvanud kõikjal maailmas – hoolimata nende rassilistest, kultuursetest ja soolistest erinevustest – reageerivad suuremas osas täpselt samamoodi, kui arvavad end teenimas halvakspanu oma vanemate ja teiste lähedaste inimeste käest."

Tuginedes üle kogu maailma avaldatud 36 uurimusele, kus osalesid ühtekokku enam kui kümme tuhat inimest, avastasid Rohner ja teadustöö kaasautor Abdul Khaleque, et vastuseks vanematelt saadud halvakspanule muutuvad lapsed tavaliselt murelikumaks ja ebakindlamaks, hakates ühtlasi teiste vastu käituma vaenulikumalt ja agressiivsemalt.

Halvakspanu põhjustatud valu – eriti kui see valu tekib lapsepõlves pikema perioodi jooksul – ei kao tavaliselt täielikult kuhugi ka täiskasvanueas, mis teeb lapsena halvakspanu kogenud inimeste jaoks raskemaks turvaliste ja usalduslike lähisuhete loomise. Need uurimused põhinevad laste ja täiskasvanute hulgas läbi viidud küsitlustele nende lapsepõlves esinenud vanemliku heakskiidu ja halvakspanu määra kohta ning küsimustele vastanute iseloomu kohta.
