Sünnikuu võib mõjutada immuunsüsteemi arengut

Ajakirjas JAMA Neurology ilmunud artiklis näitasid teadlased, et vastsündinute immuunsüsteemi areng ja ka D vitamiini tasemed sõltuvad sünnikuust. Antud uuring võib pakkuda mõningast seletust eelnevalt näidatud seosele, et sclerosis multiplexi (SM-i) tekkerisk oleneb kuust, mil inimene on sündinud.

Vastsündinute immuunsüsteemi areng ja ka D vitamiini tasemed sõltuvad sünnikuust

Inglismaal põeb SM-i peaaegu 100 000 inimest. Tegemist on närvisüsteemi haigusega, mille korral keha enda immuunsüsteem kahjustab kesknärvisüsteemi. Kaasnevad probleemid mäluga, kuulmisega, lihastöö kontrolliga ning nägemisega.

Mitmed populatsiooniuuringud on näidanud, et inimese sünnikuu võib mõjutada SM-i arengu tõenäosust. Nii on Inglismaal vastav risk kõrgeim maikuus sündinutel, vähenedes neil, kelle sünnipäev jääb novembrikuusse. Sellist sünnikuu efekti on interpreteeritud kui tõendust vitamiin D ühe sünnieelse rolli kohta.

Antud uuringus koguti nabanööri vereproovid 50-lt novembrikuu ja 50-lt maikuu beebilt ning verd uuriti nii vitamiin D kui ka autoreaktiivsete T-rakkude tasemete kindlakstegemiseks. T-rakud on vere valgelibled, mis toetavad keha immuunvastust, aidates organismist üles otsida ja eemaldada haigusetekitajad. Mõned T rakud on autoreaktiivsed, st nad võivad asuda kahjustama keha enda terveid rakke, viies autoimmuunhaiguste tekkele. Need rakud tuleb immuunsüsteemi poolt tema arengu vältel kõrvaldada ning selle ülesande eest on vastutav harknääre.

Katsealustelt võetud vereproovid näitasid, et maikuu beebide veres olid vitamiin D tasemed umbes 20 % madalamad ja autoreaktiivsete T rakkude hulgad peaaegu kaks korda kõrgemad kui novembrikuu beebidel. Seega avaldab sünnikuu emakasisesele immuunsüsteemi arengule olulist mõju, pakkudes ühtlasi ka seletust, miks SM-i arengurisk sõltub inimese sünnikuust. Autoreaktiivsete T rakkude kõrgemad tasemed võivad seletada, miks maikuus sündinute risk on SM-i arenguks kõrgem.
